THE EFFECTS OF WATER CONTENT AND GRAIN SIZE ON THE CLOGGING AND ABRASIVITY OF FINE-GRAINED SOILS IN MECHANIZED EXCAVATION

Clogging during excavation is one of the common problems in mechanized excavation. Among influential factors clogging cutter head, we can mention percentage fine soil particles (under 200 mesh sieve), moisture, and type. In this study, to investigate mechanism tunnel laboratory, a machine laboratory simulator was designed built. The features device are its horizontal operation, low rotation speed continuous contact pins with fresh test, injection additives specific pressure test. effect fine-grained, moisture foam ratio (FIR) on clogging, energy consumed, average wear cutting tools studied. results showed that an increase from 90 100%, increased by 50%. Also, dry state content 5%, head insignificant, after that, 10 25%, 178%, amount consumed each test 84%. addition, increasing 40 60%, decreased 81% average, 62% average.
